Biography:

My name is Ed, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Oxford where I studied Economics and Management. I achieved three A*s in my A-Levels in maths, economics and geography. Alongside my degree, I worked as a tutor supporting students through their studies to help them achieve their goals.

Approach to Tutoring:

I believe that each student's needs are individual. In the first session, we will work together to set goals as well as understand the students learning methods and way of thinking. Off the back of this, I will tailor the sessions accordingly. I aim to keep the student engaged throughout by presenting the material in a variety of ways and asking questions and encouraging the student to talk rather than listen. To give a rough idea of a typical session, I usually begin with a recap of a particular topic using quick-fire questions. I follow this with a learning section introducing new material which forms the bulk of the session. In the last part of the session, I will work with the student to apply the new and existing material to exam questions.

Experience:

I have worked as a tutor for three years supporting a wide variety of students of all ages and abilities. I believe that with this experience I am able to appreciate each student's individual needs through their studies and that one technique does not work for all students. My sessions have been described by students as well-planned, highly engaging and enjoyable.

Other Interests:

Outside of academics, I enjoy sports. In particular, I love rugby, football and golf. I also have a keen interest in financial markets and current affairs and when I have the time, I try to travel the world and explore new cultures.
